Community Engagement in School Turnaround: Webinar Series Overview

This webinar series focused on one essential tactic for making school turnaround more effective: community engagement. Based on the idea that “community engagement is to ensure that school improvement is done with the community, and not to the community,” the series explores what families and communities have to offer as partners for sustainable change to occur in their schools.

Hosted by the School Turnaround Learning Community (STLC) in partnership with the Reform Support Network (RSN), the first event in the series featured representatives of the U.S. Department of Education, who reviewed two recent resources designed to support family and community engagement:

Staff from the Academic Development Institute joined the discussion and offered additional strategies and resources for engaging families and local communities in school improvement efforts.

This event took place on June 26, 2014.
